10 Blog Titles that Drive Massive Traffic

We are coming into the home stretch of this round of the Ultimate Blog Challenge and I feel like I’m just getting into the swing of it.  I’ve been having fun with infographics since finding some free resources willing to share them.  This one is about writing effective headlines.  It occurs to me that this would have been a good one to share at the beginning of the challenge.

Writing good headlines has become a real challenge for me lately so this one certainly would have been good for me early on.  Well, as they say, “better late than never” right?  So I hope you find this infographic useful and we can use these tips for the next challenge or even for creating good email headlines.

Search for Your Passion by Asking Yourself These Ten Questions

passion3Yesterday we looked at why it is important to build your business around your passion.  It’s this passion for your work that is your rudder and provides the motivation to keep moving forward.

Here are ten questions to start you on your passion quest. If money were not an object, what would you do all day long?

Is there anything that makes you feel really good while you do it?

What activities are you doing when the hours just fly by?

How could you help other people by doing what you love?

What contribution are you here to make?

What difference do you feel you were put on the planet to make?

What specific group of people (niche) can your passion serve?

How will you make your mark in the world?

 What will your legacy be?

Were you able to answer all the ten questions?  Do they give you any insights as to what you are passionate about that you can create a business with?

Leverage Bigger Profits with a Charitable Mission

Having a big mission interwoven with your financial goals also provides a more profound “why” for what you’re doing in business. It gets your team, customers and community involved, helping your bottom line grow faster than it would have if you were on your own.”  Yanik Silver, YoungEntrepreneur.com

Leverage CharityHaving a greater mission and building your business around that mission brings deeper levels of satisfaction to your work and a stronger potential for bigger profits.  It allows for passion which I believe is an essential element of a successful business and life.  Your mission should reflect the “why” you are in business.

My why is that I believe that every young person deserves to have big dreams and the opportunity to make those dreams come true.

My business was conceived by my desire to help teens and young adults become economically self-sufficient.  I found a program online that I enrolled in to learn how to build an internet business and realized somewhere in the middle of this program that this is what I wanted my youth-centered business to be.  With the approval and partnership with the creator of that program, The Monetize Your Passion Blueprint: Empowering Young Entrepreneurs program was born.

The program trains coaches, teachers, life skills professional and other service providers who work with teens and young adults to teach them entrepreneurial core values, habits and business skills.  The charitable element of this mission is to provide training at no cost to volunteers who work with homeless youth to help those kids start a business and get off the streets and transform their lives.  We have also donated the program to a group who works with young women in Uganda and as a pre-release program for young people coming out of prison.  Additionally, we have set aside a few scholarships for each course for qualified clients who have a similar mission and are not able to afford the program.

The internet allows you to be more creative with your business and have a wider reach and when you are passionate about what you do, you don’t actually talk business, you share your passion.  I love talking with people in Australia, England, South Africa, Rwanda, and all across America about my passionate mission.

The current trend in entrepreneurial business is to break down the barriers between work and lifestyle and value-boosting activities.  A business can leverage charitable causes at the same time it boosts business.  The bottom line is that the more impact you create, the more joy and happiness you create, the more profits you’ll generate.

I Am on a Mission to Empower Young Entreprenuers

MYP Workbook CoverI’m doing something really scary for me; I’m starting a global movement to end youth unemployment.  That’s right, GLOBAL!

With all of my heart, I believe that we need to step up and create some sort of income potential for our youth.  My friend Alan Miles of hmroomph.com wrote in my first book, 31 Powerful Lessons Empowering Teens and Young Adults to Develop an Entrepreneur Mindset,

One of the challenges of the next decade is how we’re going to create enough jobs – especially for young people.  Recession or no recession, the nature of work is changing, workforces are shrinking in the major companies, new patterns are emerging.

The most important is the growth of self-employment and new start-ups.  Already numbers in the US and across Europe are at record highs, and that’s where most of the growth in the employment market is coming from.  Some commentators predict that half the US workforce could be employed in micro-businesses by 2020.”

Alan is a human resources consultant and achievement management specialist so he knows what he speaks of and speaks of it with some insight.

I believe that is incumbent upon us as parents, teachers, life skills professionals, coaches, and mentors to empower our youth to develop an entrepreneur mindset.  We need to start in elementary school.  There are many examples of young kids, ages eight and nine and up, who have had a great idea and with the support of the adults in their life have created a successful business so it can be done.

It starts with a mindset. That is why I developed a training course for adults who either currently work with youth or want to develop a youth centered business.

My certification course, The Monetize Your Passion Blueprint – Empowering Young Entrepreneurs, includes the materials you’ll need plus weekly calls, plus personal coaching sessions with me plus a FREE FOR LIFE membership in our members forum where you and can stay connected, receive support, further training, tools and mentoring to stay on track and build a successful business.   We also provide a site for your clients to mastermind with each other and receive free training and mentorship.

There is also an optional module on how to build a youth centered business – where and how to find clients and support in doing that.

The program is suitable for anyone who works with young people whether in a classroom, through an service provider agency, in a life skills program or private coaching business, after school program, summer camp or other venue.

There is an investment required for this course.  Some might say the fee is high, however, when you realize that this one time investment provides support, masterminding and ongoing training for as long as you want it, and that part of the proceeds are funding the global movement and will train volunteers who work with homeless youth for free, then you realize that this investment is actually a bargain; a bargain not only in your own career and for your clients or students, it is an investment in economic independence for young people around the world.

The Monetize Your Passion Blueprint: Empowering Young Entrepreneurs will be launching in a few weeks.  Until that time, you are welcome to contact me at julia@julianeiman.com for more information, or check at this blog site on the services page.  Anyone who enrolls prior to the official roll out of the program will receive a huge discount.  I also have a generous affiliate opportunity so get in touch now, before the program launches and the huge discount decreases.

Join me on this global mission and together let’s have a huge, positive impact on the youth unemployment crisis.

What is Being Asked?

Question to solveI was just checking in with some of the groups I’m involved with on one of the social media sites and left with a take-away that is a great lesson for young entrepreneurs or anyone really.  Briefly, one person asked if anyone had suggestions on what skills to teach young people before they leave home to live on their own.

Immediately, as a life skills professional, I thought of at least 20 things that I could list for her.  Not wanting to repeat what others contributed, I read all of the replies.  My immediate thought was, “huh?”

Interestingly enough, not one of the replies provided what she was asking for.  Each and every person who responded gave her a list of core values that kids should have to be a good person; things like courage, perseverance, integrity, honesty and other such qualities.

“Hmmm,” I thought, I wrote a book about all these things – 31 Powerful Lessons Empowering Teens and Young Adults to Develop An Entrepreneur Mindset, yet, I didn’t get the sense that this is what the poster was asking about.  She said “skills” not values or qualities.  I had to wonder if maybe I had misunderstood what she was asking for because all of these other people were answering the same way.

Then, the poster appeared again and thanked everyone for their thoughtful answers and asked if they could now provide some simple skills like how to do laundry.  That made me laugh because I had been doubting myself and wondering if all these seemingly unrelated answers were what she was looking for.

Only one of the previous posters came back and suggested she teach them how to use a bank.  I posted my reply listing about 20 skills.

So, you are probably wondering what my take away is? It is just that you should be very sure what someone is asking for  before you answer because someone like me, who does understand, will come along behind you and wonder why you didn’t get that question before you provided an unrelated answer.  You then appear as some who is confused, unsure, or disconnected.  If you aren’t sure, ask the poster for clarification.  It’s a good lesson that we often see the world from our point of view, but that isn’t necessarily what someone else is asking for.

I think it comes down to being a good reader in the same way you need to be a good listener.  Take a moment to really read what is being asked and if what you want to say really answers the question or not.  This poster specifically asked about “skills” not values or qualities.  She was looking for answers that included teaching kids to cook, how to search for an apartment and understand a rental agreement, how to buy and care for clothes, how to access health care, and so one.

What would you have provided as an answer to her question?  Do you know the difference between skills and values?  An entrepreneur would certainly know the difference.

Ask and Ye Shall Receive – A Mindset

Ask and ye shall receiveI’m a big believer in the saying, “ask and ye shall receive.”  It works for me every time I need it to.  I also believe that this saying is about the law of attraction and the law of attraction is alive and well in my life.  It’s a mindset that you can develop by making it a habit.

Here’s an example of how it works:

I was talking to someone the other day about listing my books and the CD package from The Youth Empowerment Telesummit on Clickbank.  I’ve tried to list things on Clickbank twice before and messed up both times.  It’s a complicated system with a lot, a lot of rules.  It made my head spin and I let it go.

So after my conversation with my colleague, I said, “I need to find someone who can add these to Clickbank for me.”

Today I was catching up on reading the posts here in the UBC and lo and behold, Shawn Snyder has a post on using Clickbank.  She’s offering a free video she made on how to use it.

Well, I have no desire to even try it, ever again, but I want to list these products there.  So, I emailed Shawn and said “let’s talk about this.”  I’d rather hire her and have her maneuver through that maze than try to tackle it myself, at least at this time.  I’m learning to outsource, it’s only money after all.

If you are really serious about needing or wanting something, just putting that thought out into the universe will bring it to you.  Have you had this experience?  What do you need that you need to ask for right now?

UBC Post 10 – Road Trip Day 4 – Back to Starbucks to Work

Starbucks Digital NetworkI am really experiencing withdrawal – I can’t stand not being able to keep up with the work that needs to be done.  I’m in the last week of The Youth Empowerment Telesummit and need to get the emails done and do some promotion for the VIP Upgrade of the recordings.   And my mother is driving me crazy as I try to write these journal articles, she is talking at me.  I’ve asked her to give me a little time to get the work done and she agreed, so why is she still sitting here talking at me as I try to get this writing done and stay on track?  I am so going back to Starbucks.  I refuse to take her with me though, because last time I was there she kept asking me if I was ready to leave.

Now back at Starbucks having an iced Caramel Macchiado and egg salad sandwich.  And no talking mother within distracting distance.

I managed to get some of the work done – got the follow up emails set for my own interview for the ending of  The Youth Empowerment Telesummit at least and added the links on the speakers page.  I was able to get some emails answered and check on the sales numbers.  I am missing my friends on Facebook though – no time to do too much posting there.

Now that I know my mother can get around, is set up with lifeline and has an appointment to get her ankle re-x-rayed, I can go home tomorrow.  Thank goodness.  I am very much looking forward to going home and getting back to my regular posting.

More Lessons Learned From Holding a Telesummit

A crowdIn my last post I talked about learning that I should have been more focused – laser focused on my theme.  While all the interviews were top quality, some were a bit off topic.

The next lesson I learned was that for a first event, it was too big with too many speakers.  I chose to air three calls a week so with 18 speakers, the telesummit ran (is still running actually) for six weeks.  That’s a long time.  It’s is a real challenge to keep people coming back for that long.  On the other hand, it’s a selling point for them to purchase the recordings.

I chose to run three calls a week because I was doing most of the work alone.  With having to conduct the interviews, scheduling them to air, uploading the recordings after each interview, sending out the many emails involved in an event like this, including the daily emails with the replay number, and doing all the promotion, I felt like it was more work than I could do.  (Taking a deep breath here).  I do have other projects I’m working on simultaneously.  That’s why it stretched out to six weeks.

Perhaps for the next one I could either have less interviews or run more than one per day.  If I can afford to hire help to manage this part of it, I can run two interviews a day, five days a week for two or three weeks.  That would be ideal because the more interviews there are the better value for those who purchase the recordings.

At least now I know what is required to have an event like this one and I’ll be able to make better choices next time.

If you are interested in hearing some of the speakers from the telesummit, there are a few more days left and the replays will be available until until April 14th.  We are also pre-selling the recordings with three options at discounted prices.  After April 14th, the prices go up significantly.  The CD package would make a great unique gift for anyone parenting (Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are coming up), teaching or otherwise working with tweens, teens and young adults.  It would also be perfect for counselors, therapists and coaches who work with families.  You can find out more at http://TheYouthEmpowermentTelesummit.com.

In another note, I am offering a deep discount on my coaching program “The Monetize Your Passion Blueprint – Empowering Young Entrepreneurs” for anyone registered at the telesummit.  That discount is good through April 14th as well.  Contact me via email at julia@julianeiman.com if you’re interested in more information.

Self Reflection on Lessons Learned

self reflectionToday I want to talk about the things you need to think about when considering putting together a telesummit.  First of all, if you have done a telesummit before, you know, but if you have never done one, you may not have a realistic picture about how much work this involves.  I went into The Youth Empowerment Telesummit knowing that it would be a lot of work, but oh boy, was I surprised at just how much there was to do and how many things could go wrong.  Perhaps my experience can help you make a good choice in the future.

The First Step:  Finding clarity.

You must start with being clear about the following things before you do anything else: your purpose for the telesummit, your topic or theme and who your target audience is.  Everything else is built around these three questions.

I would have done things a bit differently for The Youth Empowerment Telesummit if I had known what I was doing.  My purpose, which I am happy with, was to bring current trends, strategies and action steps with regard to training life skills to teens and young adults.  That will remain my purpose for the second annual event next year (yes, I am going to do it again).

What I would do differently is to stick more closely to my theme – to be laser focused on it.  I ended up with too many parenting experts talking about parenting strategies rather than life skills strategies.  The guests were all fabulous and I love each and every one of them, however, I allowed the telesummit to get off track by adding the parenting topics.  Well, it was a good lesson learned.  I believe the outcome of that is that some of the content wasn’t that interesting to the life skills professionals in the audience and the life skills professionals are my main target audience for my business, at least for now.

Had I stuck to my topic like super glue, I would have brought in less parents and more life skills professionals and perhaps increased my list much more than I have or at least in a more advantageous way.  And while I have new names on my list, I am concerned that some of these people will never be my clients as they aren’t interested in teaching entrepreneurship to teens and young adults from a life skills perspective.

On the other hand, I did attract some fantastic life skills professionals and a few coaches, one of whom is interested in my coaching program and we have sold several recording packages because after all is said and done, the interviews were really good and had great content, even if they were somewhat off topic.

My advice, if can’t already guess, is be clear on why you are doing a telesummit, what you hope to accomplish and who you are doing this for, and what will it take to get them to come to the event.

More on lessons learned from the telesummit tomorrow.  Thank you for dropping in.
